As the world becomes increasingly digital, we must pose a provocative question: Has technology taken us to a point where our virtual identities overshadow our real-life human experiences? Could our ubiquitous screens be fostering an environment of seclusion rather than connection?
Consider our social media-dominated lives. On the one hand, it’s a platform for expressing views, sharing experiences, and maintaining global connections. However, these platforms also lure us into creating idealised versions of our lives. The filtered personas projected on social media can lead to unrealistic comparisons and negative self-perception. Are these connections genuine, or are they a mere illusion of social existence?
Again, how has unlimited access to information affected our ability to process knowledge and form independent ideas? In this age of ‘fake news’ and relentless content bombardment, discerning fact from fiction has become a formidable task. With the power of algorithms capable of manipulating our preferences, are our thoughts genuinely our own, or are we passively adopting perspectives tailored by technology?
