The city of New York is often seen as a beacon of hope and opportunity, but beneath the surface lies a dark truth. Corruption has seeped into every corner of the city like a poisonous vine that taints everything it touches. It infects both the good and the bad, leaving no one untouched. The banking magnate was far from a famous man; he had a laundry list of adversaries who would relish his downfall.
His bitter, estranged wife, dishevelled by years of bitter arguments and cold isolation, was reeling from a love gone sour. The mounting frustration of a failed romance and an impending divorce gave her a potent motive.
Next in the line of suspects was his embattled business partner on the verge of financial ruin. Desperation could quickly motivate such extreme action, especially when bankruptcy was on the horizon.

Each of them harboured a motive potent enough to pull the trigger, making the case more convoluted with each passing second.

It was as though he was stripping away the veneer of the city’s glistening facade, revealing its decayed underbelly.
