The Silence Between Ourselves

Silence, even though it is the absence of sound, carries with it an orchestra of feelings and meanings that can profoundly influence our relationships – both with ourselves and others.
Silence can be a space for introspection and self-discovery. In moments of stillness, we can reflect on our actions, our choices and our personal growth. It provides a necessary pause of bustling and noisy life, allowing the connection with our inner self. At these times, we can learn more about who we are, our desires, fears, and ambiguities.
However, the same silence can sometimes be a symptom of isolation or mental suffering. Many people suffer in silence, either out of fear, shame, or simply because they feel that no one understands what they are going through. This form of silence can be harmful as it leads to feelings of loneliness and misunderstanding, increasing the risk of depression and other mental health problems.
In the context of interpersonal relationships, silence can bring or move away. A comfortable silence shared among close people can reflect a deep connection. Indicates comfort and intimacy that allows coexistence without the constant need for words.
Furthermore, there is also uncomfortable silence – the absence of dialogue when required or the absence of response when we expect one. This kind of silence can lead to misunderstandings, disputes…
